FİXA’s high-performance floor systems provide long-lasting durability in every structure. From industrial facilities to residential projects. With resistance to abrasion, impact, and chemical exposure, they maintain their aesthetic appearance while creating safe and robust surfaces.

What is Floor Coating System?
Floor coating systems are coating solutions applied before final floor covering applications or directly onto the slab concrete, used to eliminate and correct floor unevenness and also to increase mechanical durability and provide an aesthetic appearance. These systems not only protect the surface but also provide the floor with resistance against external factors such as impact, abrasion, chemical substances, water and dust. Depending on the application area, epoxy, polyurethane coatings, cement and gypsum-based screeds with flowable and self-leveling features, or hybrid coatings are preferred. Floor systems are used in all types of structures, from residences to industrial facilities and parking lots, from educational buildings to shopping centers and hospitals, to achieve safe and long-lasting surfaces.

Why is Floor Coating System Important?
Floor characteristics are part of the building’s construction and structural design. Incorrect flooring applications lead to damages that are difficult and expensive to repair. Since a structure’s floor surface is constantly exposed to mechanical loads and physical effects, problems such as wear, cracking, or slipperiness may arise over time. The financial losses resulting from businesses being idle during the repair of these situations increase the importance of industrial floor application. Correctly specified floor systems eliminate potential risks, ensuring the surface maintains its original form for a long time. Furthermore, they increase safety with non-slip structures and create hygienic environments by preventing dust formation. Coatings with high chemical resistance offer protection against substances like machine oils or acid in industrial areas. Thus, maintenance costs decrease while the general durability and comfort of the structure increase.

Which Products are Used in Floor Applications?
The products to be used in floor systems are determined according to the needs of the application area. Which floor coating product is preferred depends on the purpose of use of the area and the load that will be applied to the surface.
• Epoxy and polyurethane-based coatings are preferred to create surfaces resistant to heavy traffic and heavy loads.
• Cement and gypsum-based systems are used to correct surface defects and provide a smooth sub-base.
• Industrial service floors should remain robust and durable under conditions such as intense static and dynamic loads, impacts, bending, and fatigue.
• The application of surface hardeners is one of the preferred methods to increase the abrasion and impact resistance of the concrete surface.
• Surface hardeners, primers, chemical resistance-enhancing additives, and final protective polishes complete the system’s performance.
• The correct combination of these products ensures the floor’s long lifespan and meets both technical and aesthetic expectations.

Why FİXA Flooring Systems?
Floor systems are technical coating solutions that protect the base surface of structures, increase their durability, and provide an aesthetic appearance. They prevent problems like cracking, dusting and abrasion that can occur on concrete surfaces. Additionally, systems with high chemical resistance provide long-lasting protection in industrial areas. These systems also increase the floor’s resistance against impact, chemical substances and water.
The most commonly used systems are epoxy and polyurethane floor coatings, cement and gypsum-based self-leveling screed applications and cement-based surface hardener applications. Epoxy floors offer high resistance and hygiene, while polyurethane coatings are more flexible against impacts due to their elastic structure. Cement-based surface hardener systems provide industrial durability and screed applications create a smooth sub-base.
The application time varies depending on the size of the area, the structure of the floor, and the number of layers, but it is generally completed within 1 to 3 days. After the floor surface is thoroughly cleaned, primer, middle coat and top coat procedures are applied. The surface can be put into immediate use after the curing period.
- Epoxy floor coatings are preferred in industrial areas with heavy loads due to their hard and high-resistance structure. They are ideal for applications requiring strong bonding to concrete. They are excellent for creating a strong base layer.
- Polyurethane systems are more resistant to impacts and vibrations thanks to their elastic properties. They are also more resistant to UV rays, making them suitable for outdoor applications. Polyurethane is preferred as a top coat due to its UV resistance, flexibility and chemical resistance. It requires thinner application layers compared to epoxy.
Making a choice between epoxy and polyurethane is not always easy. Factors such as chemical exposure, sunlight exposure and the traffic intensity the floor will be exposed to should be considered to make the best decision. Both materials have their own strengths and are often used together in industrial and commercial floor systems. This combination merges epoxy’s adhesion and durability with polyurethane’s protective properties.
It is desired that industrial service floors remain robust and durable under conditions such as intense static and dynamic loads, impacts, bending and fatigue. The application of surface hardeners is one of the preferred methods to increase the abrasion and impact resistance of the concrete surface. These are cement-based coating materials applied monolithically onto fresh concrete. Surface hardeners prevent dusting on concrete floors, increase abrasion resistance and ensure a long-lasting surface. They also provide a decorative look with color options. After application, the surface becomes both shinier and easier to clean.
Floor systems have a very wide range of uses. They are preferred in high-traffic areas such as factories, parking lots, logistics warehouses, hospitals, food production facilities, schools, sports halls and shopping centers (AVMs). Non-slip, antistatic or decorative properties can be added according to requirements.
Self-leveling screed applications are performed before the final floor covering to create a smooth, even and solid sub-base. They correct unevenness in the sub-base and ensure the coating material adheres homogeneously. A quality screed application directly affects both the floor’s durability and its aesthetic appearance. These are cement and gypsum-based solutions with self-spreading and self-leveling features.
Yes, regular maintenance extends the lifespan of floor systems. Neutral pH cleaning materials should be used for daily cleaning and harsh chemicals should be avoided. The surface’s original appearance can be preserved by applying a protective polish or top coat at certain intervals.
When the correct material selection and application are made, floor systems show high performance for 10 to 15 years. This period can be extended depending on environmental conditions, traffic and maintenance frequency. Regular cleaning and maintenance significantly increase the lifespan of the coating in industrial facilities.
