How to Apply MS Polymer in Waterproofing Applications

1. Surface Preparation

• Cleaning: The surface to be applied must be cleaned of all substances that hinder adhesion such as dust, oil, tar, paint and silicone.
• Repair:
  a. Weak parts of the concrete must be repaired and cracks should be filled with suitable repair mortars.
  b. For static cracks, repair materials such as FiXA AQUALATEX-plastered mortar or FiXA REPAIRGROUT EXPAN can be used.
  c. Dynamic (moving) cracks should be filled with an appropriate FiXA MS, hybrid, or polyurethane sealant.
• Primer Use:
  a. Normally, no primer is needed. However, if the surface is very moist or dusty, FiXA POLAN A Polyurethane Floor Primer can be used.

2. Preparing the Application Material

• POLYMERA® MS and POLYMERA® MS FLUID are ready to use; no additional mixing or dilution is required.
• Before use, the product should be stirred to achieve a homogeneous consistency.

3. Application Process

Pouring onto Surface: The foil package, containing the product is cut and the Polymera MS is applied directly onto the surface.

• Spreading:
  – POLYMERA® MS: Applied evenly with a trowel or spatula.
  – POLYMERA® MS FLUID: Easily applied over large areas with a brush or roller due to its self-leveling nature.
• Number of Coats:
  – Wait 6–12 hours after the first coat.
  – The second coat should be applied once the first coat is firm enough to walk on.
  – At least two coats are recommended.

4. Special Conditions in the Application Area

• Corners and Edges: Corners should be beveled with repair mortars like FiXA REPAIRGROUT EXPAN and FiXA IMPERMO PVC Coving Tape should be applied over the bevel.
• Waterproofing Mesh: It is recommended to place FiXA IMPERMO Waterproofing Mesh between two coats.
• Masking: Boundaries of the application area can be taped for a clean finish. The tape should be removed immediately after application.

5. Curing Time

• The surface can be used 24–48 hours after application.
• Final curing is completed within 7 days.
• Until fully cured, the surface must be protected from water, rain, frost and snow.

6. Application Temperature

• Should be applied between +5°C and +35°C.
• Avoid application in freezing cold or excessively hot conditions.

7. Consumption

• Approximately 1.4 – 1.5 kg/m² of product is consumed per 1 mm thickness per coat.
• The amount may vary depending on surface roughness and absorbency.
